On the 27th of September we met Laura and Matt at Wategos, the wind blew strong but it didn’t stop us for one moment, it made the popular beach quieter than usual and made for an exclusive elopement.
The sun was shining down on us all and RIGHT on the beach front was an incredible display of native flowers set up on a unique flower installation towers. This is where they were to elope. They chose the “native boho” flower theme, the king protea was the stand out flower and the rest were nestled in around it showcasing beautiful and diverse shades of pink.
Laura was a truly elegant bride, with an equally elegant elopement, her long backless dress trailed behind her as she walked.
ABOUT THE LOCATION
Little Wategos is rests just beneath the Iconic Cape Byron Lighthouse, it’s not far from main beach Byron bay, but much more secluded. A stunning location with Julian rocks in clear vision, surrounded by boulders and shaded by Pandanus trees.
For sunset portraits, we of course went to the Iconic lighthouse! Keeping within the theme of ‘elegance’ the white backdrop and sweeping ocean views were to die for. The newlyweds made their way around this iconic location soaking up the views, as we did too. They ducked under fences and went off track, and we loved being tourists in our hometown!
ABOUT THE COUPLE
Laura and Matt worked in the same building and attended the same meetings; both lawyers where professionalism is essential. They had crossed paths a few years prior but had no idea they would end up being so utterly in love. It wasn’t until they “matched” on a dating site and met up to talk that they realised how much they had in common, and how sparky they felt.
M: “Laura,
You are an astoundingly beautiful person. So often, I look at you and cannot think about anything except how pretty you are and how lucky I am to be marrying you. You are witty, charming, caring, understanding and wildly intelligent.
My favourite nights are when we just start talking and lose track of time.”
L: “You are the funniest, kindest, most intelligent, patient, thoughtful and caring person I know.
I love waking up with you every morning and knowing that whatever the day brings, I get to share it with you.
You light me up whenever I see you, and are always able to recharge me at the end of the day.
I feel fully seen by you and loved anyway, and all I can do is marvel at what an incredible thing that is to offer another person.”
HOW DID THEY TELL THEIR LOVED ONES?
In total Laura and Matt shared their special day with 4 humans, these were the loved ones they felt needed to witness and hear first hand about their marriage. With only 4 guests, it made for an incredibly special and intimate elopement.
