CEREMONY – BROKEN HEAD, BYRON BAY
RECEPTION – GRACIOSA
26 APRIL 2019
Not far from Bangalow and on the way to Byron Bay is a beautiful farmhouse called Graciosa. Surrounded by rolling green mountains and an abundance of green trees this place is absolutely stunning. It’s where Jekayla and Lachlan wanted to get ready at, and where they wanted to return for dinner. Enough rooms for their guests, and enough space outside to watch the skies turn all shades of pink at sunset.
The two lovebirds attended the same high school as teenagers; Lachlan fell for Jekayla in shared classes. She, however, had no idea.
A couple years later a conversation sparked after Jekayla saw a cute picture of Lachlan on Facebook and since then they haven’t been able to get each other out of their minds! They moved in after one year and nurtured a very special connection, and deep love.
They chose to elope at the beautiful Broken Head Nature Reserve in Byron Bay. They were chasing a coastal and chilled vibe, and the afternoon delivered this perfectly. Wispy clouds decorated the skies; a gentle wind blew Jekaylas long hair around like a movie scene. Their love was bold and obvious – Lachlan was exceptionally excited to marry the beautiful Jekayla and said his “I do” earlier than he had to! We all fell into a collective chuckle about his eagerness. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful, and magical elopement!
What are your greatest strengths as a couple?
We are very strong-willed, successful, driven, passionate, hard working, we connect on a deep level, we know each other deeply (a familiarity we can’t describe other than we’ve lived our life together once before), we’re loyal, have the same humour (Jekayla’s funnier) and put each other first.
What does the commitment of marriage mean to you?
Jekayla: a life-long CHOICE to be together with the one you will give all of yourself to and to be united as a team, there is no higher promise or commitment you can make together, a privilege to have found someone who loves you as equally as you love them and for me, fulfilling my dreams and purpose in life to be a wife and mother.
Are there any funny stories, goals achieved, important milestones you have reached together?
Lockie Funny story: Lockie thought 2 week’s in to seeing each other that by asking we be exclusive was the grown up way of asking me to be his girlfriend – wasn’t until 6 months later he realised there had been a miscommunication…
Jekayla Funny story: Lockie took me up to double island light house cliffs where I thought he was going to ask me to be his girlfriend; he didn’t… instead he was looking at ‘fishing spots’ – just like my father would have (both big fishermen). 2 yrs 2 months later he proposed in that exact spot.
What advice would you give soon-to-be-bride’s?
Relax! Unwind so you enjoy your day and not have 100 things racing through your mind.
What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
Most memorable part for us was the first look, no one else around – just two soon to be newly weds looking into each others eyes getting lost in imagining our future. Everything was picture perfect and I remember coming into the reception with the festoon lights by the pool and under the stars thinking, we are standing in what will be a photo of perfection and it was more than I could have hoped for.
Share your experience about Lady Bella? How did you find our service?
Lady Bella… aka fairy godmother!! We almost gave up on having a wedding completely because nothing went right or felt right. It wasn’t until we were reading Luxe’s website that we got the tingles and immediately felt that was everything we wanted! SJ was the perfect mix of energy and tough love – exactly what we needed! The last 12 months was chaos! We went through a lifetime of highs and lows in just one year! Between Jekayla loosing her dad, her starting a new job, going through major shifts in relationships and our inner circle, building our new home, getting a new car and planning a wedding… we certainly had enough stresses going on to send someone crazy (or so we’ve been told) so to have someone so relaxed and calming come in and say “no problem we will make your wish come true” was a godsend and I would recommend Lady Bella any day of the week!
