Christina and Byron met each other at school after a friend introduced them, their first official date, at 14 (awwww) was at a local park. Now 10 years on the couple have two beautiful children together and one on the way.
Initially booking a Byron Bay wedding, but with Byron opening up around the same time all the accommodation was booked. So the couple elected to book an Airbnb in near by Murwillumbah along the river and an easy 15 minute drive to Cabarita Cove.
Cabarita Cove is a small, picturesque bay located nearby to Australia’s number one rated beach Cabarita. The Cove is one of our favourite places to hold an elopement or wedding ceremony. Electing to get married with just them and their two children, the ceremony was nestled on Cabarita Cove Beach with the Panama trees and the headland providing natural privacy and a beautiful backdrop to the celebration.
After the ceremony and some shots on the beach we meandered along the easy walk (even for the children) to the Caba headland. The Golden Light from the Headland to take in the spectacular views a combinations that creates magical portraits.

Locals to the Gold Coast area Lauri and Levi were looking for a simple Byron Bay elopement with just immediate family and their gorgeous little girl, Millie. The couple chose Signature Collection with styled ceremony package, and selected our newest property, Bramblewood on the Tweed Coast as the venue for their laidback wedding.
Located in the Tweed Valley this venue gives couples spectacular ocean views from Coolangatta all the way to Surfers Paradise! The rolling hills of this quintessential farm venue meant photography, done by yours truly, meant that we had quite the adventure getting photos and videography to capture the beautiful afternoon sun. Martin and I jumped in the back of Lauri and Levi’s car and we followed Bramblewood owner Daniel through cow paddocks and up to the top of the ridge for some epic sunset portraits.
Lauri and Levi’s first date was a picnic at Brunsweck Heads. Levi organised the date, but it turns out he didn’t really organise very much forgetting to bring a rug or any food or drinks. Instead getting fish and chips and sitting on the grass to eat. The images from their wedding pay homage to their first date. Sitting on a log in a grassy field imagining their lives together.
Congratulations Lauri and Levi!

Caitlin wore a Cinderella inspired blue dress with to-die-for blue velvet heels! Her flowers, by @sevenbloomscasuarina, created a dramatic contrast using bright blooms in pink, peach and purples. Celebrant Leisa from @ceremoniesbyleisa ensured everyone was properly sanitised during the signing of the official paperwork, using a nearby rock as the official signing table. Anthony looking pretty happy with his new wife giving everyone the two thumbs up after signing.
As the sunset, Caitlin and Anthony added a personal touch to their wedding day photos Anthony brought his fishing rod along to use in some of the portraits as an inside joke with Caitlin, as he is always ‘Gone Fishing’. Personal touches like these are a fun addition to more traditional wedding images, especially when you have a beautiful backdrop such as those found in Byron Bay and the southern Gold Coast.

Went to school together and had mutual friends. • Started dating in 2006, bought house in 2009, engaged in 2014, first child in 2015, second child in 2018. • We have 2 boys, Jai 4 and Max nearly 2 and 1 dog, Oscar. • Like spending time together – try to get outdoors.
• Never wanted a big wedding • Ability to have a destination wedding on the beach • Great price
• We are from Mooroopna, Victoria • Beautiful weather • Combine wedding and holiday for us and the kids • Family close by in Coffs Harbour area
Loved it – pretty stress free 🙂
Seeing everyone waiting for us at the ceremony
If you want a “no stress” day, definitely consider eloping
SJ was awesome and helped me every step of the way. She gave great advice on ceremony locations and places for dinner afterwards. Whenever I felt unsure of something, she calmed me down and talked me through it 🙂 Also all of the vendors were amazing! Thanks so much! Would definitely recommend for anyone eloping xx

“Amazing!!!! Completely stress free & purely the way “we” wanted it & nobody else. If I had to do it all again, I would do it exactly the same. SJ & her team were a delight to work with from beginning to end. Creating a beautiful stress free relaxing day exactly the way we wanted it. I highly recommend this beautiful team of creatives.” – Jess + James
ABOUT THE DAY
Set up in the back yard of Grounds of Cabarita was where the ceremony was to take place; we love a relaxed house elopement. Sun filtered through the bamboo, the pool was right next to us. It was the perfect place to elope on a gorgeous beachy afternoon.
Their two daughters wore matching flower dresses and threw petals down for mum as she walked the isle. They told us they loved the slick modern look –
Jess wore a banging short wedding dress that showed off her amazing legs, paired with a beautiful long veil. She looked outstanding and totally rocked it!
They chose a colour palette of Peach and cream; it was very peachy mixed with dried flower trend! The flowers were so bright and beautiful and POPPED off the backdrop of the bamboo. Simply stunning.
They pulled on our heartstrings with their heartfelt vows and had our team in tears, we laughed with them as they rocked back and fourth on the egg chair and got BOMBARDED by their little girls!
Some of our favourite moments were distracting the girls with Piggybacks so that mum + dad could get some private and intimate moments photographed. Assistant Emily took both girls around the yard smelling flowers and looking at the chickens to give them some alone time to connect as Sarah-Jane captured.
ABOUT THE LOCATION / VENUE
Grounds of Cabarita: The modern beach cottage. A 1960’s style house that provides the ultimate beach house stay! It’s located in the heart of Cabarita, a 5-minute walk to main Cabarita and to all restaurants/cafes.
The vibe of this place is incredible; it remains calm and quiet despite being around the corner from the main street. There is a spacious backyard for play, and a pool for those who prefer sand-less swims.
It was an idea location for a backyard elopement. Modest yet aesthetically pleasing, homely yet modern, beachy but not pretentious.
ABOUT THE COUPLE
Jess and James met a long time ago back when they were both teenagers; Jess was James’s sister’s best friend. It was love back then, but 15yrs later at Katie’s wedding is where things really kicked off. Maturity had graced them both and there was an immediate attraction.
Attraction and connection is a fiery combination! They spent 4 days together laughing and reliving old high school days. After that a long distant relationship begun!
12 years together and two very adorable girls later they are still smiling and laughing with each other! James proposed in 2017 on NYE.
This family is full of pure joy and humour; we spent the ENTIRE time laughing alongside them! Engraved on the inner side of their wedding rings was “Together in mutual weirdness” – we absolutely LOVED that!
J: “I love everything about Jess; although she must be a nut case to put up with me for so many years. Our relationship is easy and I feel so loved by Jess. She is a wonderful mother to our daughters and I’m happiest when we are together.”
Jess: “James has a drive, determination and passion that sets him apart from any man I’ve known. I adore everything about James.”
HOW DID THEY TELL THEIR LOVED ONES?
This was ALMOST a couple’s only elopement!! The only people present were their two daughters and Jess’s mum. For this couple, they believe marriage and love is something between the two who share it. They kept it between them, and told those necessary after the big day.

“I highly recommend Sarah-Jane and Luxe Elopements. She made our wedding so incredible, completely stress free and was in control of absolutely everything. She was easily contactable and checked up on me numerous times leading up to the big day.
Our wedding was a surprise which made it even more amazing and the entire time Sarah-Jane kept me calm, informed and completely ready to marry my now husband. What an amazing woman, crew and operation xxx”
CARLA + LUKE
MAVIS’S KITCHEN
25.9.19
Carla and Luke first crossed paths back in high school, Luke recognised Carla immediately, his very words were “when he first spotted this goddess”. It wasn’t until a few years down the track that they crossed path once more and decided to go out on a date. They had planned to see a movie but forgot all about that while lost in talking and connecting. A clear spark between them ignited.
Since they have spent 5 years alongside each other working hard, adding to their family, and making the most of their life together. They relish in the little things like adventures and family time.
They chose to elope at one of the most beautiful, calm, and tranquil locations – Mavis’s Kitchen. Set in the hills near Mt Warning, here the ceremony looks out to the famous Mt Warning pea with incredible rolling hills surrounding. Their closest friends and family came to witness their special day, and their two children walked them down the isle along with Brax their dog. These two are entirely about each other, and their family!
We heard some of the most heartfelt vows and fought off our own tears throughout the ceremony! If we didn’t believe in soul mates before, we do now! Carla and Luke were meant to be in this life; they are best friends, life partners and will always search for happiness, adventure, and love with each other. We felt beyond honoured to be apart of their special day.
