Sara & Steve – A Secret Sunrise Elopement
Written by Ceremonies by Lesia (Celebrant)
Netball means many things to different people, fitness, socialization, shin-splints or sprained ankles. Joining a mixed netball team alongside mutual friends, Sara and Steve experienced something much more exciting than finger dislocations. They found a magnetic attraction in each other and after a few beers and a game of pool at the local pub, love had begun to blossom. Over the following 8 years their relationship strengthened as they shared amazing experiences, most importantly, proudly and lovingly welcoming their beautiful sons into their lives. When the time felt right, they decided to deepen their commitment to one another and celebrate their journey together so far by getting married. With Sara holding many special memories of Byron Bay as one of her favourite holiday destinations, they decided to create their marriage barefoot and relaxed with a sunrise elopement.
In the almost eerie stillness of pre-dawn, the ceremony space was adorned with a naked tipi, embellished with softly scented flowers and ready for guests, who began arriving just as delicate flecks of first light crept across the sky. As the ceremony unfolded alongside the sunrise, the full majesty of the sun finally burst out from behind the iconic Byron Bay Lighthouse, sending intense hues or orange and red dancing across the sky and creating a dramatic background for photography. As the fresh new day settled in, Sara and Steve were congratulated by their family and friends and enjoyed a relaxed photo session among the crashing waves. Shortly after, the celebrations continued with a breakfast reception at the nearby Belongil Café.
